My Talent
By Nitika Srivastava
Hello human who is reading my article, today I will be telling you about my life and my role in my family. So I am the eldest daughter of the family and had the spotlight on me for 5 years until the second one came along and don't get me wrong my parents still love me, but I just learnt how to share, well learning how to share still but I get along with it just fine. And about my role, I don't really enjoy being the centre attention of everything, I am definitely not the perfect one who gets praised, and I don't know how to be the strong one, so at times I am just there to be honest, not doing anything, not speaking just sitting and listening, in better words observing thing around me. Coming from a big family really made me wonder about what my talent is sometimes like my father who has a eye of a hawk and a great talent for shooting, not my mother who is a beauty and good at performing arts and every form of it and definitely not my sister who is savage and has a great sense of humour which brings out the best moments at times, as I said I am just there.
One morning of Spring I woke up surprisingly earlier than the others and just sat outside for some time and saw everything. It made me surprised at how nature does so much magic and teaches us so many things, I saw the leaves leaving their tree, it reminds me of just how a kid leaves its mother and leaves to be something better and more beautiful but one more thing it reminded me of was how the leaves leaving the trees also resembled the way people leave us and never come back, and I thought of how the tree must be feeling so bad, as I felt like I could relate to it, my grandfather and grandmother who left me and never turned back to see me and even though it was their death which had separated us, it still feel’s hurtful, how can people just be with us, grow with us and become a leaf and then just leave without thinking once of how we would be feeling. I didn't get my answer until a few more months until summer was back and saw how the tree was green and back to how it was, it looked so happy and that's when I realised that I am the tree. People leave and new people come, it's the cycle of life and only the tree which has the ability to move on and grow once again. I realised that I need to move and grow to become a tree again and then the spring would come again which would leave me alone again but that does not mean that it would not leave, people leave and new people come again, just like the leaves leave and the new ones come and we have to learn to live with the memories they gave us.
This observation made me realise that I am not worthless or talentless that’s for sure, I am just unique and have a talent different than others which was to see beyond the things, I am not the entertainer, the singer, the sportsman or the perfectly perfect student, I was the observer.I saw how my sister everyday cracked some dumbs joke which make me laugh at times just thinking about it. I saw how my father everyday tried his very best to teach me a form of self defence which was shooting and I will remember him every time I feel like the world is against me and I will have to shoot them and their thoughts one by one. I saw how my mother never once made me feel unworthy and saw me just as the most beautiful person, she made me feel like I am the most perfect human being and even if I die, I want her thoughts and upbringing to be carried to my children, and when the whole world seems to just tell me I am not worth it I will just tell my mother to scold it and embrace me, even if she it present there or not. I saw everyday how my family shared love,it made me realise that I might leave but they will always be my biggest part. I learnt that even when the world seems to be the worst place to exist it will be the same world which gave me these people.
