My Skin Remembers

My skin loves to remember.

A nick here, a cut there,

Stretch marks on my thighs and

Remnants of old wounds on my knees;

Bruises I didn’t even know I got, and how…

A fading sliver of a blister once gifted by a cooking pot;

Scars and scratches that suddenly appear out of nowhere…

Or adamant zits that chose to sit

On the best spot on my face or back,

And mark the spot as theirs!

You’ll find many memories here…

My body is an album of

All the things that ever happened to it.

Because my skin always remembers.
