My Reflection

Today I caught myself

staring at my reflection,

my eyes, deep black

My “button” nose

the curve of my lips,

My eyebrows, discrete.

Today I caught myself

staring at my reflection,

And not thinking about

Who I was, but, who I’ve become

Maybe I’m proud of it

Maybe I’m not

Today I caught myself

staring at my reflection, And,

remembering all the stupid mistakes I did,

And wonder if someone made a time machine,

So I could travel back in time

And undo them.

Today I caught myself

staring at my reflection, And

Looking back on times when

All the voices in my head said,

“They are much better than you”

But, here I stand better than I’ll ever be.

Today I caught myself

staring at my reflection

The cold crawling through my bare feet,

And telling me that I was standing there,

quite longer than I thought,

Just looking at my reflection,

thinking about some things
