My Ode to the Ocean

As I sit here and ponder,

Of the depth, of the wonder…

The hues and shades of blue

Is it the sky or because of you?

The tumbling and turning tides

Gripped within the ripcurl.

Colours reflecting its different sides,

Revealing the reflective pearl.

Closer to the shore, you feel its force,

And deeper within, creatures on their course.

Dangerously powerful, yet eternally preserved.

Hearing its roar, its beauty observed.

No guilt, no shame…

As it unforgivingly takes its claim.

Never can it or will it be tame.

Drawing in and crashing out,

Cyclically, like a roundabout.

It forms the rocks and erodes the sand,

Giving and taking, hand-in-hand.

Calm and yet effective,

Basking in the great collective.

And as I sit here and gaze,

It washes away my mind, my maze.
