My Lonely Fight

I fought with my mouth gagged,

I fought with my hands tied.

The lonely, long war I fought

Sans a single friend by my side.

The ones I considered my own,

To my fight closed their eyes.

The ones I loved the most,

In my distress heard not my cries.

Wounded, bleeding, staggering

This weary fight I fought on,

Alas, but for those this fight I waged,

Just looked on with scorn.

None wiped my blood stained tears,

My pain never did anyone see,

When I needed them the most,

Those I loved turned their back on me.

Yet in this dark pit as I fall,

Tired, cut, yet fighting alone.

Dying I fight on, for this fight

Is just for those I called my own.
