Mundane Metropolis

An eagle flies through the column of smoke

That a chimney beside the road spews;

A burning car marks the murky road border

As another typical day ensues.

The slanting rays of the sun

Bounce off the multistoreyed window panes;

A silent vendor crosses the streets

Where a cacophony of passing vehicles reigns.

It's late in the afternoon when the roads rest

And in the distance, sit mirages;

The weary machines either return to their homes

Or go get repaired in bustling garages.

As the night pulls the moon out of the ground,

The markets stand abuzz with criers;

Some sell under the dripping roofs,

Some in fancy places to attract more buyers.

All in all the day ends for the morning people

And people gather around the bars;

Few gather and roam away from the city lights

To see the Milky Way's stars.

The night halts when the sunrays emerge,

Riding which, the sunlight intrudes;

The eagle soars in the sky again

And thus a usual day concludes.
