Moving

When my lids first pried in two,

And I beheld the infinite plains of blinking blossoms before me,

It was then I knew I had legs to carry me.

Carry they did-

The woods and hills amassed my side sight,

The blades of grass whipped my waist and stung my shins,

While the gust tore nicks into my cheeks.

Then I had fallen into the thorn bushes,

To find my way in the constellations;

They twinkled the same Morse code:

I had legs to bare me.

Bare they did-

The pellets of rain stabbed my vision awry,

The puddles I trampled froze on my toes,

While the overhanging branches sliced my forehead open.

Then I sputtered into a muddy pool,

But the clouds covered the compass in the sky;

I had no need for point direction-

Calves contracted, I was jolted upright again.
