Moonlight Whispers

By Sameer Sawant

Mystical whispers in the moonlight

Your stardust still sprinkles over me

Rhythm of the unforgettable past

Still plays the song we once sang

That long day and night we spent at work

The first day we met and that soft voice

That had left me speechless and wonder

You caught my breath without a doubt

Those daily hourly calls, I miss them

Will ‘see you soon’ ever be said again?

The jokes and stories that you kept admiring

Will there be a time again when we’ll be talking

Dreams we wove together my darling

In cold winters they still keep me cozy

Fights we fought, the battles of caring

They still live in the moonlight whispers

As the seasons unfold their stories distinct

Sudden flashbacks, they pull me back

Leave my empty heart with words within

Like the rain drops that thrive but never drop

Just like seedlings, as they head from the earth

I was the lucky one to be your first love

I’m sorry I wasn’t what you deserved

Oh, Luma you are my last, you are the one
