The father, the son,

The mother. A daughter.

Fellows in my congregation.

These familiar pillars, familiar smiles, familiar doctrines.

I feel no ease in this familiarity,

Only a small sense of belonging.

I feel unfamiliar this way,

I feel dishearted when they pray.

I feel discontent in this union,

As opposed to this Holy Communion.

It is sacred, refusal is sacrilege.

Flash and wind.

Strong and proud.

I listen to my heart’s content.

Wind of change? Maybe, and yes.

Safety, security and longing for home,

I ask myself, “Am I safe (ved)?”
