Monosyllables

This sweet sadness

Misery mine

An ache so dull

But feels just fine

Those silken lashes

Heavy with dew

Monosyllables

From me to you

Some words are too loud

To be spoken

A Plague of bizarre dreams

Haunts my nights

Addicted to a lie

I turn away

Again

Ignorance indeed is bliss

I would rather watch

The clouds outside

Blithely grey

Against a white so blind.

Let us not speak

Let us not hear

Words wound

And wounds fester.

Let us close our hearts

Caged and secured

Let our thoughts stagnate

Noxious as they age.

Let us stay here

Trapped by each other's arms

Tangled in our nightmares

Silent and resentful.
