Modern Slaves

In ancient days people were slaves;

To rich landlords who forced labor.

It was worse than life in caves;

As they were denied even the simplest favor.

People were abducted and were kept bondage;

It was an elusive dream to have even a cottage.

Articles and laws against slavery were published;

And after great efforts slavery was abolished.

Now we paved way to the rise of new kind of slaves;

And these slaves are uncountable like ocean waves.

Unknowingly we became slaves to technology;

It altered the beautiful human psychology.

Some have become slave to their own tainted thoughts;

And some slave to their corporate jobs.

Some slave to their insecurities;

And some slave on doubting their abilities.

Forced on us by ourselves;

This is the new kind of slavery.

It has imprisoned & confined our inner self;

And we all are the victims of this modern slavery.
