Misery That Comes In Waves

Misery doesn't always love company

sometimes it comes alone

it sits alone

it sings

alone.

Misery makes me feel awful

it drives my body towards a notion of impending doom

one in which I lie

and make myself invisible

so as to not make eye contact with pleasure.

because if-

no

when, I do

I'm reminded that people change, leave and die

and people become happy again

this might seem witless

but I am not able to imagine a world where I don't live with this sharp skin tearing pain of grief buried deep inside me.

I would not or rather cannot live without pain

because misery has become my greatest friend.

and to kill a friend is something I have yet to learn.
