Message 1(Manila-Tokyo)
By Anuraag Bhattacharya
Angelo says:
"In my van,
trudging through the traffic,
it looked like the clogged veins,
about to choke the heart,
of a beautiful and elderly woman called Manila. While the heat was unbearable,
the dust and smokes made them dizzy,
I was under the spell of time,
a time gone by, lost through the selfish undertones, in the habits of the souls trapped in the eternal memory webs.
She was Yuki,
who I was remembering,
walking through the blossom,
in the streets of Tokyo.
We laughed, we screamed,
we danced in joy,
we made love under the starry nights,
we kept the anchors in the clear waters.
"Yuki!" that is what I stuttered,
in a low hush,
while the cars around passed by,
making music in no rhythm.
Yuki, the snow princess,
she was with me through the time
the first Japanese Christmas,
the first ride in an amusement park,
the first taste of Tokyo city,
the city of lights and angels,
far from what I see now.
Does she know?
I am deeply regretting,
I am truly wishing for a chance,
a precious chance to make it right.
I wonder if she feels, what I feel now,
I wonder if she remembers the days that I miss now, I wonder if she wants me, like I want her now."
