Merry Christmas?

Splattered glass sideways,

Maverick cruising on his scooter in a half-drunken daze

Christmas playlist purring in my ear

Stuffed tummy giving the hiccups

A tear falls in gratitude, a tear falls in guilt over brethren slain,

To a year of new beginnings and yet another attempt at reinstating humanity,

Even God doesn't have enough plum cake to sugarcoat our fault lines,

Merry Christmas?
