Memories of Lost Love

Updated: Jul 23, 2025

By Ayan Hossain

When life’s flashing before your eye

When your world is shattered but you can’t cry

When all that’s left is her memories in your mind

When everything seems so cruel; and nothing is kind.

When all you can see is the colour black

When her presence is the only thing, you lack.

When you scream inside but you can’t say a word,

When you can only hear the tune of a crowned sparrow bird.

When even the sweetest tune fells melancholy to you

When the night lingers like a shadow to you

When the dinner becomes cold, the food you can’t chew

When the sleepless nights end with the morning dew.

When there’s no one in the other side of the phone,

When your apartment doesn’t feel any more like home.

When The light from the end of the tunnel seems so deem,

When the pine has filled your heart to the brim.

Well one can ask, how do I know

The feeling of heartbreak, the truest sorrow.

Well, let me tell you a story

Of love but not of glory.

The story everyone wants to hear but the life not to live

Time heals everything but can’t forgive the memories they give.
