Just give me moments to go by

And relive the past of my life..

When time went slow and

The fruits of leisure were ripe

When we could see the moon

Feel the silence of the night

And wonder why the sky is

So dark and the stars so bright.

The only ego clash that happened

At that time was when

Somi got three murrukkus

And i got only two..

And oh! The joy of having my first cycle

And proudly showing it off

Everybody envying, saying "you get things new new"

Even though it had belonged to my big sis Ammu

When Nancy and i raced each other

When i won so many times

Only to come home and get 'praised'

"enna azukku, enna mannu, ponna nee!"

Like leaving the chicken loop

Under the care of foxes

Out paatti used to put vadams

Asking us to guard them from crows..

That she would come after us

With a stick later is another story altogether.

Collecting puliankottai, playing pallankuli,

Daipass, pondi, fetching water from streams

As i grew up, my games did change

But only giggles replaced the screams..

The fights and tears so big then

Makes me look back with a smile

So many memories in so little time

take me forward yet another mile.
