Melting Snow
By Kasheeka Gupta
Ridges and Valleys
meeting the skies,
a dark night
sprinkled with stars bright
Glaciers of clouds
sun-kissed peaks
a clear vibrant sky
and a wind that speaks
The soft crunch of cotton
the feel of the shivery ice
the rolling in the snow
of a sweet little child
The feet burying deep
the slippery smooth roads
the squealing of kids
when sliding on a frozen rivulet
And then the shivery warm sun shines
breaking through the frozen creek
the valleys shining like glitters
and the shying away of the bleak
The laughter dies down
replaced with a mix of moods
some of merriment
some of gloom
But then things are heard
the drip from the pines
the gush from the streams
the chatter of birds in line
Rainbow of flowers
cover the valley
sending farewell
to their snowy ally
The warmth flushes
the fishes dance
and the melting snows
advance...
...and the melting snows advance.
