Maternal Reflections

Walking down the lane ,

I heard queer and faint voices.

Nearby lay a plump pussy,

embraced by a lovely litter.

The rays of the dawn ,

warm up the cute ones,

each wriggling out of the fur,

that protected them at night.

I sank in retrospective waves;

how I tried to free myself

from the clutches of my mother,

to face the world`s oddities.

The gimmicks, the pranks, the lies

I concocted to undo the chains;

the woes she suffered and the

ecstasy I ravished on – indifferently.

Finally, she withdrew- in agony,

from the game – again Nature won;

for it unleashed one more into

the lustful hands of Destiny.

The feline grabbed one gently

who lazily trespassed the road,

unaware of the foes in front,

and brimming with energy.

I glanced at the golden sky,

she might be somewhere there;

the watch reminded me Frost`s lines.

I resumed my pace ahead.
