Masks

Original Submission by Carter Russell Logan

We all wear masks -

Some save us, others hide us.

They protect or kill!

They let us shine, or we suffocate...

The prettiest masks are the deadliest;

They smile and show extravagance,

But they hide the shadows

And Death.

A fate no worse than showing ME.

The cruel painted smile,

Smiling at my fear -

A fear of rejection.

But if the mask goes

Will they go too?
