Man Outside My Window

It's another day and I am afraid,

Not of the demons under my bed, but of

the man outside my window.

The man who sees showers of terrible lights,

and stands there staring at me, telling me I'm next.


I am no stranger to death, even though I'm seven,

Just yesterday my friend bid me farewell on his path to heaven.


I see my mother praying

to the skies above my head,

But isn't it the same place

from where the terrible lights shed?


I don't understand a lot,

but I know it's the world I fear.

The man outside my window smiles as death follows me near.


-"If the war meant to scare me, tell them they succeeded please."
