Ma, So I Don’t Fall
By Anish Kumar
When my feet tremble on this shifting land,
And no one is near to hold my hand,
I kneel in silence, I cry, I pray –
Ma, will You guide me some holy way?
Not for gold, not a world to own,
Just a little strength when I’m alone.
Not for a throne in some divine hall,
Just Your finger, Ma, so I don’t fall.
Like a child lost in a stormy night,
I seek one touch to make things right.
If you walk ahead and I can’t see,
Will You let Your finger reach back to me?
Give me a sign that my soul can trust,
Not built from hope, not born of dust,
But something real, So I may know –
That even the waiting helps me grow.
They had their signs – Meera, Shabari too,
Each walked alone, but still walked through.
Ma, I don’t ask to skip the pain,
Just hold me once, so I try again.
I ask not for her, or him, or fame,
Only a path lit by your name.
And if, in mercy, that grace appears,
I’ll walk that path – through all my fears.
Ma, will You lend me that finger to hold,
So I may rise, become brave and bold?
Let me walk, not with pride or claim –
But as Your child, who calls Your name.
