Lovesick

Oh, how this love will bury me!

Beneath its bloom of agony,

With roots that claw through my lungs,

But that’s not where the suffering began.

I tried to speak, to confess,

But choked on petals of your

favorite scent.

My throat became a garden grave,

For all the words I could not save.

I reached to flee this vicious spell,

But found your heart an empty well,

And here I fade, no tales to sell,

Just silence where my verses fell.

Tell me, my love, how will it end?

When laughter’s ghost returns again,

And every room still speaks your name,

I searched for fault in every role,

But found a soul flawless and whole.

Could I survive what you won’t require?

To chase the smoke of your quiet fire,

To beg, to break, to be in denial,

Tell me, love, was I desired?

It’s a pity how this grew unrequited,

When your favorite flower filled my final breath,

A love that bloomed without return,

Now wilts inside me as I burn.

If they asked what took me all,

Don’t speak a word.

Just let the lilies fall.
