Lovers

Blanketed by darkness,

They lay.

A hint of twinkling stars

And a waning crescent moon

Watching them, from up above.

Separated by an inch of distance, they lay.

With a soft yearning to be together,

Hands crept forward

Fingers touched as pulses quickened

Fingers intertwined as hearts soared.

The erratic beating of two hearts,

Joined together in a rhythm,

Weaving the notes of a melody,

Of a song telling the tale,

Of lovers.

Who burns under the sun,

To meet under the moon.

Who are far apart in light,

Just to stay together in the dark.
