Love Through My Eyes

By Colette Yonnie Nongbet

In the name of love ,

Can I say I’ve become blind ?

For the heart and the mind

Both intertwine .

Everyday like a mirror

Held to my eyes ,

I turn to seek the reflection

In the depths of your honey glazed eyes.

I see the objection and pain

But also the wonder of sweet refrain .

I can’t hold it against you

For in this golden haze ,

I am allured to your charms .

The world is animated

With hues so beguiling,

That the heart pangs

For your love so vibrant

And the mind morphs

Into a lucid contentment .

What about long distance’s

Miscommunication?

Or lost in translation?

It’s center revolving around you ?

It only causes trouble,

But I can’t stay away from you ?

Love is not about who has it the hardest,

The one who waits or the one that makes you wait ?

The one who waits ,

Anxious for their beloved’s return

And the one who Is making the other wait

Perplexed for putting first life’s necessities

But both of them questioning each others loyalty ?

Sometimes you bend and sometimes you break

But isn’t that life’s journey ?

You never know what awaits .

We click ,we connect then we disconnect and maybe even reconnect.

Through each stage we should do our best

For in one short moment

You can triumph or regret .

Now then, do you see my debacle ?

For in shackles  I’m bind

To see or not see ,

The mirror held up to me ?

For in those glints of your eyes

Hold a spark so divine .

What’s wrong and what’s right,

Seem to collide .

I can now say ,

Love truly is blind

Because we may see all the flaws

But we’re willing to be blind .

For in lives brevity

There is nothing better than

Love’s  blissful eternity.
