Love, almost.
By Sukhmeet Kaur
it was raw and consuming, a fire that burned
not the fleeting kind
it was a lesson learned
every laugh and smile, a dagger in disguise
what once felt like magic now only fills me with lies
it’s not the kind of love that lights up the night
more like shadows lurking
hiding from the light
you were my treasure, yet a ghost in my chest
and all those memories feel like a test
i poured out my heart but it fell on deaf ears
the selfless devotion drowned out by fears
wanting your happiness meant losing my own
in this echo of silence i felt so alone
there’s a distance now that cuts like a knife
i can’t touch ur heart without losing my life
some days im strong
some days i break down
caught in this cycle where love wears a crown
my love was an offering laid bare on the ground
but in the end it left me lost and unbound
though it shaped who i am with it’s bittersweet pain
i learned that love can haunt you like the rhythm of rain
