Lost In Time

By Parv Agrawal

A passing airplane and birds flying in a chain

A bouncy castle and the city hassle.

30 minutes of screen in 2016.

A plain heart, a piece of art

A trampoline park and a childlike spark

The will to grow, from head to toe.

A rare cup of tea, smiling with glee

A bright day in May and a “Mom! I’m going down to play”

Patter and chatter and a relay race

The look of a soft, untethered face

Birthday parties, pizza and friends

Not aware of cruelty and ends

Absence of opinions, judgement, and care

Absence of clarity, goals, and despair

Absence of conformity and pretension

Absence of anger and aggression.

“Why did everything change then?”

Nothing changed, it was just better when,

you knew and thought less.

And things that made you happy didn't need to make sense.

It was better when your world was small

And you didn't need to see it all.

But now the world's too wide to see,

Clouded by thoughts of who to be
