Lost In Time

By Syeda Farhat Lamisa

This yearning for another glimpse of you,

That palpable wonder around your whereabouts,

Is there another universe where our souls meet again?

There wasn’t enough time in our hands this chance encounter

To acquaint ourselves with each others’ true selves,

To seek out the restlessness in our eyes,

To comfort the earnestness in our minds...

And our biggest fault was in trusting time, for, time was always in a hurry;

In fact, time was sprinting, fleeing the risk of stopping in its tracks -

Scared to give love and terrified of embracing it by fluke;

Differences were lengthening the distance between us;

The thirst for moving on was weighing down on us;

The longing to be alone despite craving the company,

A feeling not unheard of in this modernity of our new agey world.

But how long can we lie to ourselves?
