TITLE

LOST IN THE HILLS.

While hiking through the hills,my friends and I laughed as the sun spilled molten gold across the earthy valleys like honey.The smell of pine and damp earth,and birds stitched music into the early morning atmosphere."This trail looks right,”Jackson said confidently,his voice bouncing off the rocks.The path curled ahead like a serpent slithering through trees,everything felt peaceful.Suddenly,a flutter of unease brushed my skin like a cold breeze dancing through my veins.

As we walked deeper into the hills,the scenery slowly changed as the forest grew thick and shadowy,swallowing the sunlight that was guiding our way.Leaves crouched loudly under our boots,sounding like whispers of the dead.”I don't remember this part,”I said,tasting fear as dry as dust in my mouth.The wind moaned through the trees like a warning and t trail daded until it looked like a broken promise.

Ten minutes later of following the unseen spirits,we then reached a steep cliff.Our hearts thudded like a drum in our chests.Mist rose from below,cold and wet against our faces,hiding what lay beneath us,”We’re lost,”whispered Maya,her words trembling like fragile glass.Panic wrapped around us like a tightening rope as the forest seemed to lean in,watching and waiting.

After taking a deep breath,we followed the sound of rushing water,hoping it would leas us somewhere familiar.The stream sparkled like a silver ribbon and its cool splash soothed our shaking nerves.”Listen up,the trail must be nearby,we could not of have possibly wandered that far.”I said,hope flickering like a small lit flame.Slowly,the trees thinned and the smell of fresh grass replaced the heavy moss.

At last, we stepped onto the correct path again,relief washing over us like warm sunlight after a storm.The hills looked friendly once more,painted in soft greens and glowing amber.”We made it,”Maya said with a sweet and light laugh. As we walked back safely,tired but wiser,one truth echoed in our minds,”All’s well that ends well”
