Looking Forward

I looked forward to

the yellow sunshine,

but I got

the blue rain in return

I looked forward to

the laughter,

but I got

the muffled screams in return

I looked forward to

the sweetness,

but I got a taste of blood in return

Now,

I am looking forward to

the saccharine memories of life,

in prayer, to finally get

what I want in return.
