Lonely

By Anuvrat Tiwari

And she’s gone now

Gone and here still

Like clouds which are never mine

Whose rain I watch from my windowsill

She’s here but still far away

You can caress me but you can’t hold me

She’ll always be here by my side

But I’ll still always be lonely

Acceptance is the key

The key to a peaceful mind

But how can I expect to accept losing you

When I can’t even forget your eyes

Her eyes are deep

Deep enough to pull me in

She corrected my former belief

That even a single look can actually kill

The guilt I feel is tremendous

This dream just shouldn’t be

It was just too good to be true

And even the universe seems to agree

I know she loves me still

In a way with which I too agree

But I just can’t get over how it could have been

But alas it was never meant to be

So although she’s here, but she’s still far away

You can caress me but you can’t hold me

She’ll always be here by my side

But I’ll still always be lonely
