Loneliness has become a major problem in today’s world. Today its found in the majority of our society. Whether a person is married or unmarried, successful or unsuccessful, rich or poor, old people or teenage youngsters its found almost everywhere. Now the question is what is loneliness and how does it feel like and how can we overcome this loneliness?
So, loneliness is a feeling when someone feels alone from inside and lonely though they have people around them. Despite their family and friends, they feel alone from the inside. They don’t feel like going out and socialize with people around them and they find peace by staying alone. There can be various reasons for this be it social trauma, mental pressure from society to be successful or a person may be feeling low due to other emotional and environmental factors around them.
Loneliness can be both beneficial as well as harmful. For a person who is much more surrounded by people and doesn’t get enough time for themselves, loneliness is a great benefit for a while. For eg, students preparing for competitive exams or working professionals working on some big project need to get some alone time to think and execute their plan and for that, they need to isolate themselves from the social atmosphere for some time and get isolated from society to focus on their goals. In this case, loneliness can play a beneficial role for them.
Similarly, loneliness can be harmful to such an extent that it can lead a person to depression and even suicide. Loneliness can create some suicidal thoughts amongst people and can be very harmful and dangerous to them. The feeling of being alone or not accepted by society can create havoc in someone's life.
So, how to get rid of this loneliness? As it's both beneficial as well as harmful we need to see that we don’t get overestimated towards our goals nor become so isolated towards society. So to get rid of this loneliness, one should always indulge in various activities like yoga, meditation, reading self-help books, and keep indulging in other mind-engaging activities. Remember, only we are responsible for our happiness so only we can take care of ourselves and get rid of our problems.
