Loat’s Wife

Loat's wife,

Her destiny

Seemingly tied to her name

But it was rarely read

The life she chose

And the Fate to which

She bound herself.

The city they fled

And the bonds they abandoned

In the time of siege

How dearly she loved

Couldn't she part.

Of course,

She too got the words

She too knew the revelation

The choice without choice

To flee or to be burnt.

Surely she did reflect

Surely she did brood

Yet in the moment of action

Did love ruled her fate.

The streets

That cheered her evenings

The stars

That lighted her dark soul

The red string

That her soul connected with

The clan

That warmed her lonely soul

The portrait

That she started to draw about

The green leaf

That promised her an eternal spring.

The moment they start to flee

Love lit all that she adored there

She chose to got stuck with

And still she stands there

As the blessed beloved

Wedded to

The eternal solitude . . .
