Live, Love, Loss

By Cameron Foster

To be human is to live

To receive as much as you give

For in our hands, we bring life

With it, we have the ability to take it away

Through hand, gun, or knife

We also learned to love

It’s our religion to love the God above

We choose one another

Husband or wife

We love our closest friends

Even if we are on other ends

We love as we breathe

We see that there’s not much a difference between you and me

And we lose as fast as the wind gives us breeze

We work hard and we fail

Some of us mess up and go to jail

We lose ourselves chasing our own tail

We are a boat and sometimes we lose our sail

Sometimes we put our souls on sale

We lose our close ones those that are dear

So we become our greatest fear

And we separate from the rest that we’re near

And we find sadness and things that used to make us cheer

Some of us are monsters, but no one starts out that way

Some listen to the wrong words that we(some) have to say

And we lose ourselves in the feelings we used to keep at bay

But we have power to check on each other and make sure we’re OK

And our inner demons become our outer feelings

Every day

So if you have a friend check on them

So those inner demons you can slay

So we don’t toss and turn in the beds that we lay

So we become the man that makes the money not the money that makes us pay

So we put our happiness back on display

Feel your feelings for the dead that decay

But never let that grief be the weight that weigh

So much that you betray

Everyone you know

And the villain you portray

Control your feelings

Don’t let them control you

For you hold the controller to change your own view

For you are the clay maker don’t let the clay mold you

For you are the sinner don’t let the lies become true
