LINES AND GREYS

I hate that life is linear.

That we can't colour

outside of the lines.

That creativity is confined

to the outlines

of the box we're meant

to think outside of.

I hate that truth is black and white

and the only in-between is grey.

That life and death,

right and wrong,

us and them

all fall into the confines

of a lightless colour palette.

I hate that we're content,

complacent, yes, and overworked.

That happiness is defined by

how experiences can create content

that contend on the

handheld screens of

the eyeballed auctioneers.

I hate that no one is truly happy.

That happiness is a façade

because

life is linear,

the box is square.

I hate that everything

is subject to change

but adaptability is praised.

Though change could come

and life could change

we find comfort in

our lines and greys.
