Lifelong Dream

By Edvelyn Lee

"What is your dream?"

Barbie with Papa & Mama last night was fun

The silhouette on the handbook became pink and purple

"Fashion designer!"

"What's your dream?"

Adorned in stars and sparkles like Mariposa

Wearing cotton in colours I loved since young

"An artist."

 "Where are you going now?"

Home with Papa & Mama would be nice

Carefully tucking away my certificate worth thousands

"Hopefully an internship-"

"How's your job?"

Only thing similar to the childhood dream were the designer bags under the eyes

Though the 100% linen and tailored trousers covered that flaw

"Productive..."

"What was your dream?"

A question that blared at me in full brightness

A question that lost its meaning in the world's cunningness

A question that never had an answer til now

The answer lies beneath layers of fraying fabric in the corner

"Be with Papa & Mama."
