Life or Lie

By Keya Gupta

Life or lie?

Sometimes I stand wondering

if anything in this life has real meaning,

if all I see is a lie—

a game designed to deceive the eye.

How can I find faith in others

when I question my own reality?

When I ask, am I real?

or only a fragment of this insanity?

The more I hear, the farther I go.

I thought the world was only shades of grey,

but even in the brightest light

it fractures to black and white.

Yet inside me my heart still beats,

not something written into keys.

Maybe I had it wrong—

maybe I had been real all along.

For the sun still greets at dawn,

and the compass still points north.

Every silence I mistook as empty

was a lesson, guiding me forth.
