Just another in college, as I entered my class and was getting ready to deliver the lecture, a student from the back bench shrieked as he said, “Sir there is something in the desk ahead, and it’s crawling!”
Surprised with the excuses the students always make I paid little heed to what he said and continued with my class, just when a girl came running in, ran straight to the desk and pulled out a box. The boy at the back continued to tell that he wasn’t just making an excuse and the whole class was shook and in a way wondering as to what could’ve been in the box with the same thoughts running in my head.
The girl carrying the white box spoke up as she said, “Relax everyone! It’s just a squirrel who fell off from a tree and broke its neck, it’ll mostly die. Let me at least give it a proper burial,” as she rushed out the door.
All I could now think of was the squirrel in the box, breathing its last, in darkness, in pain, in a void, battling for life! IN A BOX.
Uncertainty is another name for what we call ‘Life’ and what will happen to us is totally out of control. In the movie ‘Kung fu Panda’ a character by the name Oogway says “Yesterday is a history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift – that is why we call it present.”
With the burdens of yesterday and the anxiety of tomorrow we often live a life inside a box – rarely living, barely staying alive. In a world so huge and we spend most of our lives stressing over things that don’t really matter, things that kill us and most importantly reading just one page of the entire book! Being adventurous might not be everyone’s cup of tea but doing what one love’s definitely will add some colour.
In the process we have to live the life to the fullest more than just staying alive, because in the end, it just ends in a box.
