Life- A Splendid Gift

People like the sun

For its so bright and lovely

But the minute it gets uncomfortable

We manage to seek the nearest shelter

‘I love the rain’ most say

But keep an umbrella handy just in case it rains

Eager to see a rainbow

But too good to go through the rain

Everyone loves the mountains

But the climb they are sure to avoid

The view they may fancy

But the struggle sure wouldn’t be worth the fight

It’s funny we await the finest

With an excuse in the name of a strive

If one wants the warmth of the sun

they first ought to smoulder in its might

If you love the rainbow then why fear the storm?

If you want the sight then why fear the climb?

For the best to gain

It’s the hardest one shall fight

Why do we wish to run,

When we can dance through life?

We run so fast

Not even leaving a minute to see;

See the bliss and joy

And all that life’s got to provide.

We run and run for the entirety of our lives

But when is it we wish to relish

The small and beautiful times?

Or even savour what we call is life?

I don’t wish to live this way

For how I don’t see it as any different than sustaining

I want to live and I want to laugh

No matter how bad it’s now

Because however small it may it be

Life’s still mine to keep.
