Letter to My Forsaken Beloved
By Meghna Sarkar
A step traversed within the spring of my thoughts,
I decided to free you from the entangled knots!
It began with a simple hey!
Brightening up the dawns shadowed by the grey.
A simple late night-call,
Adorned by the melody of rainfall.
The meaningless banters and the harmony of nothingness,
Was enough to help me navigate through my personal mess.
Alas, it was nice while it lasted.
Time and time again it was proven that none could be trusted.
Of what was and what could’ve been,
It was all a fever dream.
You said that all of it was in my head
Since that version of you is now dead.
For long, I had forgotten how to write.
It took me days to rearrange those 26 letters right.
Echoes of playful hushes,
Urged the memory to replay the instances of forgotten blushes.
I could not bear to look at your face again;
I could not bear to be the prisoner in your eyes again.
Forgotten lies and unholy truths;
It was no less than the childishness of youth.
And this is a Good-Bye my Forsaken Beloved that you failed to bid
Walking away, trapping me in my autumnal sheath.
