Let It Go

I watch the sunshine from my room

imagining how lovely the little leaves are feeling in its light

I feel the urge to take the step I've always longed to

but never have, because there's always something else to do

something not-so-important on my to-do list

some guilt to address

some responsibility to fulfill

reminding myself of another unkept promise

something that will weigh nothing as opposed to my smile in that sunshine

and knowing it all

in the fraction of a second

I let another day of sunlight go
