Lest Morrow Takeover Today
By Anoushka Sinha
I always seemed to know my way around things.
Like an icicle knows its way through a man’s torso.
Like my rage knows no bounds.
Or how all that is and shouldn’t be, is all for show.
My heart inside my chest beats for my knowledge to grow.
Like the colony of E. coli grows on room temperature dough.
Like the rivers that flood, match my period flow.
Oh, and how the grand total of my thoughts being weird is a negligible amount.
I used to be liked as a multifaceted concept.
Like the Vikings liked to be brave through the pain.
Like the saffron saints were liked for their authentic sense of religion.
And how the state-of-the-art loves to change.
I was always thought of as matured and strange.
Like the adversary has been dreamt about rotting in a cage.
Like the brain that dulls looks better deranged.
Or how most murders are brushed off as suicide without any suspicions.
I liked the way the things worked before.
No inner conflicts just the weight of tiresome tradition.
And truths happily hidden behind closed bedroom doors.
I ravaged my sentient being to be a part of their lore.
And it was enough to learn about the special somethings.
To find my position in the collapse of nothings.
Because how else do you learn, learn to carve your way around things?
When all that has been, makes you want to cower,
Against the prospect of a future where your knowledge may not just be your power.
When all that you are is a skeleton of someone who has already been,
A changed human awoken into the inertia of reality from the clasps of unfulfilled dreams?
