covering you with myself we duck down

I owe you my life, he says

no, you don’t, let’s just get going

it doesn't even matter at this point

let's not talk about it, not because I want it any differently but because I'm always saving and you're always owing

you say you'd give me anything

but you never mean it and it only makes me more ashamed

we always go around in circles

it never ends

there's only one thing my bleeding heart wants

it beats to say

please just for one night, will you lie down next to me, clothes on but shields down?

pulling you out of crumbling buildings

you'll never come through

taking your hit

but it hurts just like it always does

no bandages are needed this time

I'll carry it around with the rest of what I have inside of me

At least this way I won't be empty

there is no time left to get out

there's only enough

to fill the niche in my chest

where a heart would fit perfectly

if we could maneuver it into place

you owe me that much

before we die I'd like to kill the remaining parts of me that survived even after everything.

It ends here.

It ends with us.
