Raati meri kal neendein main saari

vagaah phir ovei'n kar gayi

(I wasted my sleep yesterday night for the same reason)

zubaani teri hi boldi meri hun

mulaakaatei'n khud to'n vadh rayi

(I have started to speak your language now, and I am meeting myself and getting to know myself even more than ever)

Sheeshe mein khud nu nihaardi payi

taa'n nazraa'n ch' teriyaa'n ulajh main gyi

(Looking into the mirror as I was admiring myself, and I happen to see your eyes and got perplexed)

Tere naam da phir ikk bahaana bana

Haaye! qisse main kinne likhne lagi

Rabba qisse main kinne likhne lagi…

(Using your name as an excuse again, by God, I started weaving so many fantasies)

Mahine jehde saad adhuri ve payi

(All those ruined months in which I felt incomplete)

haale rabba main kaabil ji ban gayi

(By God, i have now become capable enough)

oddan ruhaani teri chhu ve bhala

(touching your soulful drape of cloth)

ae kalam meri phir khad gyi

(I took up my pen again and started writing)

kaaliyaan meri ehna akhaa'n vicho'n

samandari lehar ji rijh payi

(inside my black eyes, the waves of the seas have started to pour out)

jiwe’n Waris di nigaahein

meri ibaarataa'n vicho'n pai gyi

(seems as if Waris Shah, a renowned poet, has gazed upon my writings)

ajj Waris di nigaahein saaiyo

meri ibaarataa'n vicho'n pai gyi…

(by god today Waris Shah, the renowned poet, has gazed upon my writings)
