Karna, The Unsung Hero

Updated: Jul 24, 2025

By B.Murali Krishna

With armor shining, like the morning sun's rays,

Karna fought for honor, in the battle's blaze.

Though fate was cruel, and life unfair,

He stood tall and proud, with no regret or care.

Illegitimate son, of the sun god's mighty hand,

Karna's birth was secret, his fate a constant stand.

He searched for identity, for a sense of belonging true,

But found only rejection, and a life forever anew.

But then he found a friend, in Duryodhana's guise,

A bond of loyalty, that touched the skies.

Together they stood, against the Pandavas' might,

Their friendship a beacon, in the dark of night.

Cursed by Parashurama, for the deception so sly,

Karna's memory failed, in the moment he needed to deny.

The curse of the God, for the insult so unkind,

Karna's armor lost, his protection left behind.

Cursed by the earth, for extracting curd with might,

Karna's chariot wheels, stuck in the earth's crusty mound in the final fight.

The earth's curse held strong, as Karna tried to fight,

His chariot immobile, a helpless warrior in sight.

A hero unsung, with a tale so grand,

Karna's story echoes, across this ancient land.

His generosity knew, no bounds or shame,

He gave away his armor, and suffered the pain.

In his final moments, as the battle raged on,

Arjuna's arrow struck him down.

A fatal blow, that ended his brave fight,

Karna fell to the ground, in the golden light.

A tragic hero, with a heart of gold,

Karna's legacy lives, forever to be told.

In the annals of time, his name will shine so bright,

A hero, a warrior, a soul so full of light.
