Kargil Diwas -- A Tribute

By Jiya

The mountains , the oceans , the hills and the lakes

all lie beneath the Sun's rays ,

every soldier builds courage and takes ,

an oath to serve his nation in many ways .

The year 1999 , during the war of Kargil

our soldiers had to capture the Tiger Hill ,

that day the hill stood at 16500 feet

but still our soldiers walked together to not accept the defeat .

About people like Captain Vikram Batra we still hear ,

who fought for India till their last breath,

this war still keeps us all in fear,

for they had to lie on the coffin of death .

We play holi with colors,

they play it with bullets and guns ,

we decorate our house during occasions with flowers ,

they have it on them during their funeral pyre in tons .

We all have gathered here today,

JAI HIND to all martyrs on Kargil Diwas we say ,

who have hoisted our nation's flag up and high,

who in their remembrance still sob and cry.
