Just A Stranger

I wish I tried harder

To convince you,

I wish I had told you more

About what might happen.

Maybe then you’d have listened,

Have finally understood;

Have finally seen;

Have finally felt;

How they were ruining you

Bit by bit, little by little;

Ripping you apart

And burning each piece.

Consuming all the light inside you

The very light you shone on me...

And let me see clearly

Through the dark fogs of life.

Maybe if I had fought harder

You’d have finally listened,

Maybe then, you won’t be

The one you are now.

Full of hatred and ruin

After all, I’m just a stranger now,

That knew too much then

And knows too much now.
