Just A Phase

What phase??  They ask.

A phase where ‘everything’ isn’t enough.

A phase where you wake up into crippling fear.

Where you don’t relate to the person in the mirror

Where your heart bleeds and you’re stone cold

Where giving up is the hardest way out

Where silence screams and all screams are silent

Where every day is a fight with yourself

Where life is all an endless maze….

Where survive is all you do.

Where you figure out never to figure out

Where you’re too numb to endure

A phase where you’re a living corpse….

A phase you wish you could walk past….as if a terrible joke.

I think to myself with my heart throbbing….but aloud I say,

“JUST a phase……”

Or is it though?? I ask myself again.

No……I’m too anguished for that to be true.

With a smile that lost link to my heart a long while ago…..

I close my eyes again, to fall into pitch darkness of my own soul…
