Joy in Small Things
By Debmitra Das
I feel happy in small things, simple and true,
Like the morning sun painting the sky in blue.
A warm cup of tea, a soft breeze that blows,
The sound of the river which near my house flows.
A bird that sings and dances on the roof above,
A small act of kindness, a gesture of love.
The laugh of a child, true, honest and pure,
Around the city, a small weekend tour.
Life treasures are not trapped in a big moment,
But in little things and little components.
And when I am alone, I count them one by one,
The smallest joy shines as bright as the sun.
