It's Not How It Used To Be

What I see around me

Is how I  never wanna be,

I don't want to pretend

While calling that power my friend

Isn't friendship a bond pure?

Irrespective of age

Everybody's got a phone in their hand

These devices have replaced

Replaced those sweet sounding lively instruments,

You'll no more see people swaying to the rhythm

Or clapping their hands

Well that was the past

How I so wish for it to last.

It's  like they are waiting

For the boring aarti to end

Then again

They've got a phone in their hand,

Clicking pictures with the decorations all around

Yes the Gods are part of it as well

How heartbreaking it is to see

It's not how I grew up.

While posing even the God is sad

Of how it all turned

Under their own supervision and grace

Now there is no devotion,

All their backs to God and faces to the camera

Joining hands just for a click

It is the era and the people

I am living with.
