It's 'Her' World Too

What a beautiful privilege it is, to be born as a human,

For only we humans have the ability to cognize, reason, and learn!

And that’s how we evolved from apes to ‘Homo sapien’,

Discovering fire, agriculture, shelter, and more till searching for alien!

But have we evolved enough, emotionally and socially?

We claim men and women are equal, do we treat them equally?

Per some, I live in a third world land, does that deny my right to safety?

Is safety too much to ask for, where a Goddess is worshipped as a deity?

What evolution is this, that denies our girl child, a trustable world to live freely?

Why is there a constant need to protect her, from predators roaming blatantly?

I never leave a chance to teach my son, about the greatness of a woman,

As the one who is born twice: once as herself and once as a mother, is only a woman!

She may seem fragile, but her heart endures utmost bearable pain,

She may be judged for every choice, yet seldom does she complain!

If she is given the right to be born,

provide her protection every moment since she is born!

If she is given the right to education,

let her live it fully without any harassment or exploitation!

If she is given the right to work,

empower her to safely commute and prosper at work!

Each day a new horror unfolds, with a tragedy unnerving,

Why today's modern era compromises security of the deserving?

We need another national uprising, to reclaim what is already our birthright…

And a revolution for women’s freedom, until everything is set right…

We women have always fought, for what is ours, mending every way our way,

Even amidst today’s atrocities and threats, we will soon carve out our way!

We may seem weaker, but our courage is like that of a roaring lioness,

Like her, we can’t be silenced or demotivated, before clearing this disgustful mess!

Yearning for a land, where every woman can safely wander, learn, work and travel...

As it’s 'her' world too, where she can smile with a fearless mind and a valour to marvel!
